Do you hate physical activity?- Written by: Randall Gartman

[FIRSTNAME], the only reason why you don't like physical activity today is you were tricked when you were younger to believe that getting into shape or getting healthy is painful. I say tricked because it usually came from a PE Teacher or Coach.

Generally, there are three types people (for the most part) that developed this painful retreat to exercise.

1. The first people I like to call out-of-shape athletes. At one time these people were in extremely good shape and they were exposed to serious athletic trauma from a Coach. This Coach only had a few months to beat someone into competition shape and this type of training is near torture. Your body was put through extremes. Now, in their later years, they equate the best shape of their lives to painful experiences. These people believe exercise must be extremely painful or tough to really work.

2. The second group of people is people that have never been in shape and were made to participate in PE with a group of kids that weren't very compassionate. You had to try extra hard to compete with the other kids or you sat out of the game. Whether you were overweight working hard to fit in or you were humiliated to compete your experience was painful. Generally these people don't like to go to a gym because they don't feel adequate or they are embarrassed at the thought of being overweight while everyone else is skinny and in shape. Who wants to re-live that experience?

3. Finally, the third group of people is kind of both. They have been in good shape but they were over zealous in their quest for fitness so they were impatient and put themselves through painful exercise. Now they are out of shape because they couldn't continue the pace so it is embarrassing to start all over again and make excuses to everybody they knew at the gym that saw them fit.

WELL YOU CAN STOP KILLING YOURSELF.

I have put out emails regarding fidgeting burning calories before but here are some cold hard facts. Do these ten things and you will lose weight and gain muscle.

1. Drink a minimum of 10-8oz glasses of water. If you are a bigger person, you might need more. Granted, it won't happen overnight, but you will feel better and accomplish your goal over the long haul.

2. Park your car in the back row

3. Fidget

4. Chew gum

5. Take the stairs

6. Throw away your remote control or hide it.

7. Eat only a little less, but spread the calories by adding more frequent meals (around 5). Make the meals easy and smaller but just don't stuff yourself.

8. Have moderate to intense sex a couple of times a week.

9. Sit up straight and breathe from your diaphragm

10. Stretch and flex a few times throughout the day.

Stop thinking that better health requires Tofu and long marathon runs or extreme bodybuilding exercise. Although those things are GREAT for people that are in peak physical condition, they are not for everybody. Do you know what personal trainers struggle with every day? They struggle with how hard to push their trainees. If they push them too hard, they quit. If they don't push them hard enough they quit because even though the program might be working for them, the results aren't quick enough. Many trainees will tell their trainers to push them harder because they don't think it is working, only to tell their trainers later (usually a few weeks) they are conveniently traveling too much at work to train anymore.

Health can be fun!!! In addition to those 10 steps, make it daily task to try and walk 5 minutes. Don't think of walking any longer than 5 minutes--->ONLY 5 minutes. Do you know what will happen? You will probably walk 15 minutes simply because your natural thought process takes over and tells you something like "I have already made the effort to walk 5 minutes, what's another 10 minutes going to hurt. Very few people can consistently walk only 5 minutes unless they have some kind of physical challenge.
