Caught up in surgery
Friday, January 14, 2005, 03:41 PM
I was more scared than my son. He is fearless.

Surgery lasted only 30 minutes but the whole process took from 9:30 am to 8:25 pm.

The decided to slip in a patient before us, that just so happened to be a HIP replacement with complications.

Its done. I will post my routine and diet for today later this evening.

I had somebody send me an email asking what protein I was taking again and where the could get some.

I personally only buy all my stuff on line from FITRX because they are one of the few vendors that carry Beverly International Products. If you want the best price on the best products, you need to go to FITRX and get Beverely Products.

I am not a big supplement guy and I only use
some meal and protein/Carb shakes, branch chain aminos, Glutamine and a great Multivitamine all from Beverly. I have tried other cheaper brands but this stuff is the best in my opinion.

Chest day - Son needs pins in his hand
Tuesday, January 11, 2005, 01:13 AM
Yep-Doc said My son needs a couple of pins in his hands - It's called percutaneous pinning of the 5th meta carpal.

The Doc said that it would not slow the healing down any and the pins would come out in 5 weeks.

I am scared about my son going under anesthesia though. That is always a risk.

My mom is kind of mad I think because she really believes Dillon could have walked away somehow.

My son Dillon's friend came by with his little sister and they gave my youngest daughter a barbie mansion. This thing has an elevator that automatically goes up and down. Really cool gift for a 6 year old.

Anyway -

Chest: Bench press - I got my 6th rep on my last set for 315. YEAH.

Incline Press No dumbbells - went with a bar. WOW BIG DIFFERENCE. I could only do 225 for 4 on my last set - really scary--I will be able to improve alot here.

Barbell Curls - Good day but my biceps are actually looking too big for the rest of my body. I am going to keep going pretty heavy but I don't want to look goofy. 130lbs for 5 on my last set

close grip bench - I am a wimp - I don't know why close grip bench hurts my wrists so much. I know not to get my hands to close together but it is just an cumbersome movement for me. Don't laugh-165lbs for 8 on my last set. I can go up next week but that is pathetic.

Tricep Press (skull crushers) After close grip, all I could get out of me was 135 for 4 on my last set. Considering I can only do 165 for close grip, you would think I could only do 80lbs on this exercise. -- I am going to do decline tricep next week.

Two sets of leg raises 20 reps
two sets of ball crunches 30 reps

1.6 gallons of water
3300 calories - need 3500 but I am ok I think. I feel pretty strong but I will raise my calories back to 3500 and see if I can get some better performance.

Take it easy

Where did my abs go?
Monday, January 10, 2005, 02:51 AM
Just joking, they are there but they are fading.

I did do some light cardio. I didn't do it because I am afraid of getting fat. I really did it because it is the best way for me to relieve stress.

I didn't go above 60% for longer than 25 minutes.

My hours are kind of crazy so this is the only time I have to post lately. I get my full 7-8 hours sleep but I am just not starting til 2am sometimes.

I am doing some teleclasses for some international people and we are kind of splitting the difference.

Bragging on my Daughters today -

Emily is 6 and I noticed how well she was reading and I got excited. She was reading Black Beauty. That's not bad for 6.

My son and oldest daughter Amber was that way too. In fact, my oldest daughter is so smart, I couldn't help her with her homework after the 8th or 9th grade. It's not that I am stupid (I am pretty sure I'm not anyway) but she has been taking Calculus, AP Spanish and stuff like that since the 9th grade.

My son was selected for Talented And Gifted Programs too but he just lost interest. He is still taking the tough classes like his older sister but the TAG program wasn't working for him. He actually studies higher leve stuff on his own.

I think my youngest daughter Emily will be more like her sister Amber. She will just read and read and read. She would rather read than play with her barbies.

My wife Bridgett is doing great and has been exercising a lot lately. She is looking really good and I think she wants to start posting her results too. She is following the eMpowering Physical Mastery Course. She isn't fat (actually quite thin) but she wanted to build some muscle.

It's late, I am out.

Calories 3300 - Water 1.5 gallons.

Light cardio - tomorrow Chest Bi's Tri's

Back and shoulder day
Sunday, January 9, 2005, 03:11 AM
DIET SUCKED TODAY. I took a cheat day. My wife made some really good spaghetti and I couldn't resist PIGGING OUT! There was no such thing as a proper portion size for this meal. I didn't eat so much that I got bloated feeling but I ate more than I should have. I am probably at 3800 or more calories today.

I will say that I felt extremely strong though with all those extra calories and carbs.

Bent over back rows went up 10 lbs

Deadlifts went up 20 lbs but my grip started giving out. I used wrist straps on my last set.

Military press wasn't as good- no gain but I did get an extra rep in on my last set. I will probably need to go up in a week or two.

lateral raises. I went down on the weight so I could feel the movement and I am really glad I did. I got an awesome shoulder pump. I really concentrated on the movement and paused at the top for about a half second. I think I will stay at this same weight next week and gradually start back up the ladder.

I didn't add a carb at the end of my workout because I think I had plenty. I just took some branched chain aminos from Beverly International.

Done.

My son is doing better. He had some friends over today and they played music in the garage. His fractured hand hinders his playing but not as much as you might think.

water 1.4 gallons

Easy Day
Friday, January 7, 2005, 01:10 AM
I just did some very light cardio.

My abs are almost gone ;-( That is kind of the perils of getting big for competition. I won't put on more that 12-13 lbs of extra fat weight while I eating to get big. If I start putting on too much fat weight I will cut back on my calories.

I will say that I feel incredibly strong today! I really feel great, even after some soreness from leg day yesterday.

What is bothering me? It is really difficult for a formerly obese person who lost as much weight as I did, to eat big again.

There is that little nagging voice that say's, "what if you lose control Randy" and stuff like that.

I am not really scared that I will get crazy because I am having to convince myself to eat and lift heavy like I am doing but.. I am a little nervous-- just a little. I feel confident that I am progressing just like I should be.

My son is doing ok. I going to the Doctor with him tomorrow to get his hand XRay'd. They want to make sure it is setting ok. I think it is but we will see. I'll pray and keep my fingers crossed.
