( 3 / 660 )Getting ready for Competition
Tuesday, December 28, 2004, 08:10 PM
I have been pretty lax over the last month about my competition date in October. I think I am just a little scared of failure so I have secretly been messing myself up.
Now I am ready to really get things going and I have my head truly focused.
My first goal is to put on serious muscle size because when I get really lean, I will more than likely compete as a middle-weight (187lbs0
Considering I almost have one year before my competition date I thought I would start on the power phase of my program -
I am not really going to try to lose too much body fat over the next few months so some of you looking for that information may want to go check out The Obesity Smack or Stop Being Overweight News. This is more like my daily journal for competition- My lean and peak phase will begin sometime in May.
In this power phase, I am working out 3 days a week using primarily large movements or compound movements such as Bench, Squat, Deadlifts, Dips, Overhead Presses, BentOver Rows, Chin Ups, Lying Tricep Extensions or close Grip Benches and Standing Barbell Curls.
I will post my workout and poundages each night when my day is complete.
Follow me as I get ready for my first Natural BodyBuilding Competition.
P.S. I will also be posting some obstacles and thoughts along the way.

( 3 / 657 )I hate exercising in the cold
Friday, December 24, 2004, 12:35 AM
One of the reasons I generally like Texas is the weather. A large percentage fo the time the temperatures are pretty decent for exercise but right now it stinks.
If any body has read any of my books or purchased my software, they will know I would much rather exercise outside than inside. I hate treadmills and stuff like that. I feel like a rat on a wheel.
Anyway, it is cold outside. Not as cold as it gets up north but 19o is too cold for me to train outside. I feel trapped and anxious. I wouldn't go as far as saying I feel claustrophobic, but I definitely get cabin fever.
Today I just worked my legs in the garage (still cold) but it was snowing and the wind was blowing real hard too.
If this goes on for much longer I'll have to break out tae bo ;-D

( 3 / 658 )On A Personal note
Wednesday, December 22, 2004, 02:33 AM
I am having a real hard time dealing with the fact that my father had a stroke at 66 years of age. I feel cheated and I am certain he feels the same. If you knew my father, he was bigger and stronger than life. You know, the kind of guy that hit the winning home run, considerably stronger than ALL the other dads (known as the BEAR to some) and usually commanded everyone's attention when he walked into a room
Now, he is dealing with trying to go to the bathroom without any assistance (not much success). My dad is still the same dad but I am really struggling getting use to our new relationship. I'ts not new in the love category but it is new in the sense that we can't do any of the things we used to do.
I have the attention span of a gerbil and I am moving all the time. It is pretty hard for me to play cards and board games all the time. I mean we talk and I love the conversation but I can't just hang around all day and he can't go with me anymore. :-(
I would love to hear from people dealing with the same issue!

( 3 / 640 )Do you know what I hate?
Saturday, December 18, 2004, 03:24 AM
Have you noticed what is going on in families today?
The Adults in the household have joined a gym and are now exercising regularly because they know it is going to put years on their lives.
The Adults in the household are eating a balanced meal because they have become very conscious of what they eat and they are really concerned about their health.
Meanwhile - The parents feed the kids something quick - like mac and cheese, hotdogs, hamburgers or pizza take-out, while their children play video games from dusk-till-dawn. They think that by not letting their kids drink the carbonated beverage, they are making the tough decisions.
Do parents think the stuff won't kill their kids too?
